Dhahrat Laban is one of the best-known districts in west Riyadh, and many residents simply call it Dahiyat Laban. Jeddah Road runs alongside it and the Western Ring Road cuts through it, so it is easy to reach from most of the west of the city. Family homes dominate: villas on generous plots with private gardens, alongside apartment blocks ranging from studios to three-bedroom flats. That mix matters, because a family in a two-storey villa needs a very different visit from a couple in a small flat, so this page is built to help you choose the right number of hours before you book.
In the larger villas two jobs come up again and again: a kitchen that needs serious cleaning after a week of cooking for a big family, and a laundry basket that never seems to empty, full of abayas and thobes waiting to be ironed. Below we explain what a maid can get done on both during a visit, how long each takes, and how to fit them around the rest of the house.
How much is an hourly maid in Dhahrat Laban?
Al-Kauther charges the same across Riyadh, so being in Dhahrat Laban, or further out along the ring road, does not push the price up, and transport is on us. These are our starting prices:
Source: Al-Kauther Home Services hourly-maid price list for Riyadh. These are starting prices; the final price depends on hours, number of maids, home size and shift, and is confirmed before the visit.
Most families here start with a 4-hour visit to see how much one maid gets through in their home, then move up to 6 hours if they live in a villa with a big kitchen. Longer visits also work out cheaper per hour: about SAR 34 an hour on a 4-hour visit, falling to roughly SAR 29 on an 8-hour one. Any evening or Friday difference is confirmed when you book, and for anything out of the ordinary just ask for a price on WhatsApp.
What an hourly maid gets done in a Dhahrat Laban villa
An hourly visit is organised help, not a free-for-all. The maid arrives, listens to your priorities and works through them in order until the time is up. In a large family home we suggest naming your top three jobs in the first few minutes: a villa will not be finished top to bottom in 4 hours, and it is far better for the maid to leave with the important rooms properly done than to skim over everything.
The kitchen, from marble worktops to the oven door
Villa kitchens in the district tend to be generous, with a built-in oven, long marble worktops and plenty of cupboards. On a kitchen visit the maid washes, dries and puts away the dishes, wipes the worktops and the wall behind the hob, cleans cupboard fronts and handles, polishes the sink and taps and mops the floor. Ask, and she will also clean the oven glass inside and out, plus the fridge shelves once you have emptied them. Done properly, a villa kitchen alone usually takes two to three hours.

Laundry and ironing, abayas and thobes included
Big households create a lot of washing, and ironing is the job that always gets pushed back. The maid can run the washer and dryer to your instructions, separate whites from colours, hang clothes to dry, then iron abayas, thobes and shirts and hang or fold them away. Abayas and delicate fabrics are pressed at a suitable temperature or steamed; if a piece needs special care, just mention it first. A full basket of thobes and abayas can easily take two hours, so allow for it when choosing your visit length.

Bedrooms, bathrooms and the majlis
After the kitchen and laundry comes the rest of the house: tidying bedrooms and changing bed linen, dusting furniture and shelves, cleaning bathrooms from basin to tiles, vacuuming rugs and getting the majlis ready for guests. Dust settles fast in west Riyadh, so wiping the inside of windows and their frames is a regular part of most visits we do here.
Where an hourly visit stops
We set out the limits up front so nobody is caught out. An hourly maid helps in the kitchen with cleaning and preparation but does not cook full meals, and she does not look after children or elderly relatives on her own. A visit also does not cover:
- ✕washing exterior façades or any work at a dangerous height
- ✕moving or dismantling heavy furniture
- ✕gardening or plant care
- ✕minding children alone while the family is out
How many hours does your Dhahrat Laban home need?
This table is based on the housing types most common in the district. Treat it as a starting point and adjust after the first visit, once you have seen what the maid actually gets through:
If you have a big kitchen and a full ironing pile in the same week, book 6 hours rather than 4, or split the work into two weekly visits: one for the kitchen and bathrooms, one for laundry, ironing and bedrooms.
Morning or evening shift in Dhahrat Laban?
Maids work two shifts. Morning visits usually start between 8 and 10 am and suit homes that want the kitchen and laundry finished before the children are back from school. Evening visits usually start between 4 and 6 pm and suit families who are out at work during the day or are expecting visitors that night. The exact time is set at booking, and your hours start when the maid reaches your door, not when she leaves our premises, so traffic on the Western Ring Road never eats into your visit.
Monthly hourly packages for Dhahrat Laban families
Once the kitchen and ironing become a fixed weekly job, a package is cheaper and simpler than booking each time. Every package is made up of 4-hour visits on a day and shift you choose; it is not a live-in contract:

Before the maid arrives: tips for homes in the district
- ✓Send your location pin with the building number; some newer inner streets are hard to describe by name.
- ✓If the villa has two entrances, say which door the maid should use.
- ✓Leave out any special products for marble or delicate surfaces. The maid brings basic cleaning tools, and cleaning products are as agreed at booking.
- ✓Sort the laundry and set aside anything that must not be ironed.
- ✓Lock away jewellery and important papers before the visit.
Legally employed maids and available nationalities
Al-Kauther’s maids are legally employed, hold valid iqamas, are trained and wear a modest uniform. This protects the household as much as the company: the Domestic Workers Regulation bars a domestic worker from working for anyone other than their employer, and hiring a worker who has broken residency rules or absconded can expose the householder to a fine of up to SAR 100,000 and up to 6 months in prison, according to the General Directorate of Passports. Booking through a company puts residency, transport and work arrangements on the company.
We provide maids of African and Asian nationalities depending on availability at the time of booking, such as Kenyan and Ugandan. You can ask for a preferred nationality and we will confirm availability, and if you are happy with a particular maid, ask for her again and she will be sent whenever she is free.
