Al Hair or Al Hayer? Where it is and how we get there
You will see the name spelled both ways – Al Hair and Al Hayer (الحائر / الحاير) – and both mean the same place. It lies at the far southern end of Riyadh and is the centre of the Al Hayer Sub-Municipality, which several other southern districts fall under. Al Hair Road links it to the city – the same road that runs through Al Masani – and that is the route our maids take to homes here.
Property portals show more residential and commercial land and warehouses in Al Hair than homes for sale, so the residential part is less dense than Riyadh’s inner districts. Our service here is for homes only, not warehouses or commercial sites, and every visit is booked in advance with the travel time worked out before we confirm your arrival time.
Hourly maid prices in Al Hair
Starting prices in Al Hair are no different from the rest of Riyadh. This is the Al-Kauther table; the final price depends on hours, number of maids, home size and shift:
Figures from the Al-Kauther Home Services Riyadh tariff, which includes Al Hair; the booking team gives you the evening or Friday rate before confirming.
The maths is simple: SAR 135 for four hours is about SAR 34 an hour, and on the four-visit plan each visit comes to around SAR 115. The longer the visit, the less the journey weighs on your day and on the maid’s.
The provisions store and kitchen: jobs an hourly maid does well
In homes a long way from the shops, families buy in bulk: big sacks of rice, tins of dates, cases of water and enough canned goods to last for weeks. Over time the storeroom turns into crowded shelves where it is hard to see what is there and what has gone out of date.

For this job the maid empties a shelf, wipes the shelves and floor, then puts everything back in a sensible order: heavy items at the bottom, things you use often at hand height, like with like. Anything she finds opened or past its date is set aside for the family to decide on. Depending on the size of the store, this usually takes one to two hours of the visit.

Small jobs that make a visible difference include descaling the kettle, teapot and tea maker with water and lemon, and wiping the blender, toaster and microwave inside and out. Tea and coffee makers run all day in a Saudi home, and limescale shows up in the taste before you see it.

In outlying districts, regular visits are easier to arrange than one-off requests, because the maid and the driver already know the house, the route and the time. That is why monthly plans suit Al Hair families:
- ✓4 visits × 4 hours: from SAR 460, one visit a week
- ✓8 visits × 4 hours: from SAR 875, two visits a week
- ✓12 visits × 4 hours: from SAR 1,320, three visits a week
- ✓Same maid: you can ask for her every time, and we arrange it whenever she is available
How many hours does your home need?
- •Kitchen and storeroom only: 4 hours is usually enough
- •Single-storey home with around five rooms: 5 to 6 hours
- •Two storeys with washing and ironing: 8 hours, or two maids for 4 hours from SAR 290
- •Before an occasion or Eid: add two hours to your usual visit, or book a second maid
These are practical estimates, not fixed rules. After the first visit you will know whether the time was enough, and you can adjust the next booking accordingly.
Before Ramadan and Eid: getting the house and storeroom ready
Before Ramadan, storerooms fill up with the month’s provisions; before Eid, homes get ready to welcome family. This is when our customers in the southern districts book their longest visits, because the jobs all arrive at once: emptying and reorganising the store before the new shopping comes in, machine-washing bed linen and light washable curtains, polishing serving ware, and cleaning the majlis and living room.
Our advice is to split the work over two visits: the first for the storeroom, kitchen and laundry, and the second a day or two before the occasion for the sitting rooms, bathrooms and finishing touches. Slots in the run-up to Eid go quickly, so book early to keep a time that suits you.
Morning and evening shifts in Al Hair
Morning visits start early in the day; evening visits start in the late afternoon. For Al Hair we prefer the morning where possible, since a long drive is easier to plan early on, but the evening shift is available once confirmed with the booking team. Hours are counted from when the maid enters your home, not from when she sets out.
Arrival notes for your home
Al Hair has named streets such as Abi Imran Al Rashid and Badaie Al Sabaan, and others known by number, such as Street 380. To help the maid arrive without delay:
- •Send a location link from your map – it is more precise than a street description alone
- •Give the street name or number, the gate colour and any clear landmark nearby
- •If the house has more than one gate, say which one the maid should use
- •Basic cleaning tools come with the maid; products are whatever was agreed at booking
Who comes into your home? About Al-Kauther maids
The maid who comes from Al-Kauther is legally employed with a valid residency permit, trained in housework and dressed in a modest uniform. We insist on this because the Domestic Workers Regulation does not allow a domestic worker to work for anyone but her employer; an employer in breach faces a fine of up to SAR 20,000 or a recruitment ban of up to three years, and the worker herself a fine of up to SAR 2,000.
As for nationality, you will be sent an African or Asian maid, Kenyan or Ugandan for instance, depending on who is free on the day; mention any preference and we will try to meet it.
