Al Wisam, east Riyadh: which Al Wisam?

Al Wisam is a district in east Riyadh under the Eastern Sub-Municipality. The name crops up elsewhere too: there is an Al Wisam Street inside the Uhud district in south Riyadh, and a district called Al Wisam in Khamis Mushait. This page is about the east Riyadh district. Al Wisam is still taking shape. Property listings show residential floors for sale, newly built apartment blocks with flats to rent, and plots that have not been built on yet. In practice, most of our bookings here come from families in a flat in a new block or in a self-contained floor of a two- or three-storey building, and many of them have only recently moved in.

Kitchen first: what Al Wisam families ask for most

In newer flats and floors the kitchen is often open to the living area, or close to it, so cooking smells and grease travel to where the family sits. That is why many of our Al Wisam customers start the visit in the kitchen: washing up the pile of dishes, wiping worktops and cupboard fronts, cleaning the hob and the outside of the oven, polishing the sink and taps, and finishing with the floor.

The maid can also help with the jobs that come before cooking: washing fruit and vegetables, chopping what you ask for, and sorting the fridge and clearing out anything past its date. Cooking full meals is not part of an hourly visit, and we make that clear before every booking so nobody is caught out.

After the kitchen, bathrooms are the next most requested job in flats: disinfecting the toilet and basin, scrubbing tiles and grout, and taking water marks off glass and mirrors. Then the bedrooms and living room – tidying, dusting, vacuuming and mopping.

One job people often forget to ask for is sorting drawers and cupboards: pairing containers with their lids, grouping spices and rearranging shelves so things are easy to find. Put it on the visit list if you want it – it takes time that counts towards your hours.

Morning or evening? Visit times in Al Wisam

The morning shift suits homes where someone is in during the day, and the visit usually wraps up before the children are back from school. The evening shift is the pick for couples who both work: the maid arrives in the late afternoon and finishes before dinner.
