Al-Kauther Home Services provides hourly maids in Al Malaz, Riyadh, for older family homes and apartments in mid-rise blocks, with 4- to 8-hour visits in the morning or evening; a 4-hour visit with one maid starts from SAR 135. To book, call or WhatsApp 0561940026, and mention if your building has no lift so we can plan the visit properly.
Al Malaz has a character quite unlike the new northern districts. Homes are older, the majlis rooms are bigger, floors are terrazzo or vintage tiles, and most blocks are three or four storeys. Families here are often large or extended, with relatives gathering every week. Such homes need a patient maid who knows that cleaning an older house is different from cleaning a new flat — and that is what this page explains: tasks, the right visit length, prices and practical notes on reaching Al Malaz buildings.

Al Malaz: one of Riyadh’s first modern districts
Al Malaz is among the earliest planned modern districts in Riyadh. It began in the reign of King Saud as a housing project for government employees and grew into a complete neighbourhood. It is home to places every Riyadh resident knows, such as King Abdullah Park — built on the old Al Malaz square — and Riyadh Zoo, and it once hosted the first campus of King Saud University. The district falls under Al Malaz sub-municipality, which also covers areas such as Ar Rabwah, Jarir and Ad Dhubbat.
That history shows in the homes: two-storey family houses behind low walls in sand-coloured render, mid-rise apartment blocks, and many houses renovated inside while keeping the original layout. An original layout usually means a large men’s majlis, a wide living room, windows with wooden blinds or heavy curtains, and floors that need particular care.
What Al Malaz homes need from an hourly maid
In an Al Malaz home the majlis is the heart of the house, where family and guests gather, so it takes a large share of the visit: rolling back or vacuuming Persian rugs, dusting floor seating and backrests, and mopping the terrazzo until it shines again. Terrazzo is hard-wearing but shows marks and dust quickly, and needs mopping with clean water and gentle products so it keeps its sheen.

- ✓Majlis: vacuuming or rolling rugs, mopping floors, dusting seating and cushions.
- ✓Kitchen: worktops, sinks, older cupboard fronts and washing up.
- ✓Bathrooms: tiles, basins and floors, with attention to grout lines.
- ✓Laundry and ironing: family clothes, bed linen and washable majlis covers.
- ✓Bedrooms: tidying wardrobes, changing bedding and dusting.
- ✓Small tiled courtyards and entrances: sweeping and cleaning the doorstep.
Wooden blinds, windows and built-up dust
In older houses and flats a layer of dust collects on wooden blinds and their slats, and on window frames and ledges — and you only notice it when the sun comes in. Cleaning blinds is detailed work: the maid wipes the slats one by one with a microfibre glove, then cleans the inside of the glass and the frame. For heavy fabric curtains, she can put washable panels through your home washing machine where the care label allows.

How long should your Al Malaz visit be?
Older homes usually take longer than new ones of the same size, because corners, joints and old tiles hold on to dust. So we suggest making the first visit longer; shorter visits are usually enough after that. If you need longer on the day, one extra hour costs from SAR 50, provided we agree it beforehand.

Some older blocks in Al Malaz have no lift, and some inner streets are narrow with little parking, especially in the evening. That does not stop a visit, but it helps to plan a little:
- 1Tell us the floor and whether there is a lift, so we can plan if the maid will carry her tools up the stairs.
- 2Send the entrance pin, as some blocks have two entrances on different streets.
- 3For a house with an iron gate, tell us who will open it and when.
- 4Leave a phone number that someone at home will answer when the maid arrives.
Visit time counts from the maid’s arrival, so any delay at the door comes out of working time.
Limits of an hourly maid visit in Al Malaz
An hourly maid does not cook full family meals and does not look after children or elderly relatives on her own. That matters in extended-family homes where an elderly parent sometimes lives: the maid cleans and tidies their room, but their care stays with the family. The visit also excludes climbing onto high roofs, cleaning exterior façades, carrying heavy furniture and anything that puts her at risk.
A weekly visit for the big family home
A family home where relatives meet every week benefits greatly from a fixed slot — the day before the gathering to prepare the majlis, kitchen and bathrooms, or the day after to restore order. Four visits × 4 hours start from SAR 460, eight visits from SAR 875 and twelve visits from SAR 1,320. You can ask for the same maid each time, and we arrange it whenever she is available.
There is a morning shift that ends by mid-afternoon and an evening shift for those who prefer the visit after family members are home. We prefer a woman of the household to be present, and Friday and holiday visits, plus any evening price difference, are confirmed at booking.
Why book through a legally operating company?
In busy older districts, individuals sometimes offer hourly maids with no responsible company behind them. That puts the household at risk before the worker: employing or sheltering a worker in breach of residency or labour rules can mean up to 6 months in prison and a fine of up to SAR 100,000. Our maids are legally employed with valid residency permits, trained and in a modest uniform, and the company is responsible for bringing them and taking them back.
Maids are of African and Asian nationalities depending on availability at booking, for example Kenyan and Ugandan, and you can ask for a preferred nationality. The maid brings the basic cleaning tools, and cleaning products are as agreed at booking.
