Getting the house ready for Ramadan and Eid in West Naseem

West Naseem has long been home to large families, and many of its houses are the “family house” where sons, daughters and grandchildren gather in Ramadan and on Eid morning. Preparing for the season is therefore more than a normal clean: new rugs are laid in the corridors, majlis rooms are arranged for visitors, serving trays and dishes come out of storage to be washed, and rooms are made up for relatives staying over.
The usual mistake is leaving it all for the last day. It works much better to spread the work over two or three visits in the fortnight before the season, so the final visit — a day or two before Eid — is just for finishing touches.
West Naseem homes: courtyards, rooftops and annexes

West Naseem falls under the Al Naseem sub-municipality, with East Naseem, As Saadah and As Salam as neighbours, and Prince Saad bin Abdulrahman Al Awwal Road running through it. It is mostly family housing: two-storey villas and houses with small courtyards and water tanks on the roofs, plus apartment blocks on corners and wider streets. Homes here are well used, and the courtyard is part of family life — an outdoor seating area, a swing for the children, and winter evenings spent outside.
Within the visit, the hourly maid can wipe down the outdoor seating, swing and table and sweep a small courtyard and the doorstep, provided you agree it at the start. Hosing down large courtyards with pressure equipment and cleaning rooftop water tanks are not part of her job: the first needs a company with equipment, and the second is classed as risky work that the rules do not allow.
The annex, driver’s room and store
Many houses in the district have an outside annex or a store in the courtyard. If you want it cleaned, mention it when booking so it is included in the length; a small annex usually adds one to two hours, and an extra hour starts from SAR 50.
How much is an hourly maid in West Naseem?
A 4-hour visit starts from SAR 135 — Al-Kauther’s standard price across Riyadh, with no delivery charge. Starting prices:

Example: a family wants three 4-hour visits to prepare for Eid and a fourth afterwards. The monthly plan of 4 visits × 4 hours starts from SAR 460, instead of SAR 540 for the same visits booked one by one. For big occasions at home such as weddings or engagement gatherings, ask for a price on WhatsApp after describing the space and the number of guests. Any difference for evening shifts or Eid days is confirmed at booking.
Family gatherings: before and after
In big family houses, gatherings come round often: Friday lunch, visiting relatives, a marriage contract or a graduation celebration. Before the gathering the maid sets up the majlis, wipes the tables, arranges the coffee, dates and tea trays and cleans the guest bathroom; if the visit overlaps the event, she can serve the ladies’ side. Afterwards she collects and washes the cups and plates, vacuums leftovers from the rugs and puts the majlis and kitchen back in order.
What the maid does in a family-house visit
- ✓Cleaning majlis rooms, vacuuming rugs and arranging seating and cushions.
- ✓Kitchen: washing everyday and serving dishes, cleaning worktops, hob and sink.
- ✓Full bathroom cleaning, including guest and annex bathrooms.
- ✓Bedrooms: making beds, changing linen and tidying wardrobes.
- ✓Laundry and ironing, including thobes and abayas before an occasion.
- ✓Inside glass, mirrors and doors.
- ✓Organising the pantry and fridge before Ramadan.
The maid brings the basic cleaning tools, with cleaning products as agreed when you book.
What the visit does not include
- ×Cooking feasts or full meals — she can help with light prep and clean the kitchen.
- ×Sole care of children or elderly relatives, even during an event.
- ×Cleaning rooftop tanks, climbing façades or moving heavy furniture.
- ×Washing down large courtyards with water and equipment.
It is preferable for one of the ladies of the house to be present throughout the visit, especially on busy occasion days with people coming and going.
Hourly maid or live-in maid for the family house?
Many families in the district ask whether they need a live-in maid or whether an hourly maid is enough. It depends on the need. A live-in maid means recruitment, accommodation and long-term legal responsibilities for the family, while an hourly maid comes at the time you choose, leaves when the visit ends, and the company handles her residency and transport.
That is why family houses in West Naseem often combine the two approaches over the year: a fixed weekly visit year-round, plus extra visits for Ramadan, Eid and gatherings. Al-Kauther offers hourly service only and does not handle recruitment contracts.
Visit times in West Naseem, and during Ramadan
On normal days, morning arrivals are usually between 8 and 10 am and evening arrivals between 4 and 6 pm. In Ramadan the shifts move to suit fasting — the morning shift starts later and the evening shift moves to after iftar — with the time agreed when you book. Your hours always start when the maid arrives at the house.
Legal maids and available nationalities
Busy seasons bring plenty of “hourly maid” offers from individuals or unlicensed offices. Saudi domestic-worker rules forbid an employer from letting their maid work for others, with fines of up to SAR 20,000, and employing or sheltering a worker in breach of residency rules can cost up to SAR 100,000. That is why Al-Kauther only sends legally employed maids with valid residency, trained and in modest uniform.
Nationalities available: African and Asian, depending on availability at booking, such as Kenyan and Ugandan. You can ask for a preferred nationality, or for the same maid who came on a previous visit whenever she is available.
