Do your maids cover Al Uraija Al Wusta and Al Gharbiyah?
Yes. Al Uraija is a long-established residential district in west Riyadh, and two neighbouring districts share its name: Al Uraija Al Wusta (central) and Al Uraija Al Gharbiyah (western). The area falls under the Al Uraija sub-municipality, which also includes As Suwaidi, Shubra, Tuwaiq and others. Al-Kauther maids cover all three districts at the same prices, on morning or evening shifts. When booking, just say which Al Uraija you mean and send your map pin.
Family houses with boundary walls and metal gates dominate the district, alongside apartment blocks and self-contained floors. Many of these homes have an inner courtyard and separate majlis rooms for men and women, spaces that fill with relatives during Ramadan and Eid. That is why demand for hourly maids in Al Uraija clusters around the seasons: before them to prepare, and after them to get the house back to normal.
Getting the house ready for Ramadan and Eid
The two weeks before Ramadan are when a family most needs an extra pair of hands. On a preparation visit the maid cleans the majlis, vacuums the rugs and shakes out the floor seating, polishes brass and silver serving pieces, lanterns and incense burners, reorganises the kitchen cupboards to make room for the month’s supplies, washes light curtains that can be done at home and cleans the fridge before it fills up. A pre-Eid visit is much the same: guest rooms, bed linen, serving sets and entrances.

- ✓Majlis: vacuuming rugs, shaking out bolsters, wiping tables and shelves
- ✓Serving ware: polishing coffee pots, cups, lanterns and incense burners and setting them out
- ✓Kitchen: emptying, cleaning and reorganising cupboards before the month’s shopping
- ✓Guest rooms: fresh bed linen, dusting and tidying wardrobes
- ✓Entrance and inner courtyard: sweeping and mopping the floor
Courtyard, majlis and annexe: what does a visit include?
In Al Uraija the inner courtyard is part of the home, and sweeping it, mopping the tiles and cleaning around the plant pots can be included if you ask. We do draw a line between light cleaning inside the home’s walls and heavy outdoor work: the maid does not wash building façades or high surfaces, does not do gardening, and does not climb tall ladders to reach dangerous spots.

A separate annexe or men’s majlis is cleaned like any other room, provided a woman of the household is at home during the visit and the annexe is empty of men while the maid works. If the annexe is large, with its own washroom and kitchenette, allow one to two hours of the visit for it.
To work out how many hours to book, count spaces rather than rooms: the courtyard, both majlis rooms, the living room, the kitchen and the number of washrooms. A two-storey family house with all of these usually needs 6 hours with one maid to be cleaned with care, whereas a visit limited to the majlis rooms and courtyard before a gathering can be done in 4. If the annexe is rented out or lived in separately, it counts as another home and needs its own booking.
Hourly maid prices in Al Uraija
These are Al-Kauther’s starting prices for Riyadh, and they stay the same in and out of season:

Ramadan timings and any evening, Friday or holiday difference are confirmed at booking. For large occasions needing more than two maids, ask for a price on WhatsApp once you have sent the size of the home and the number of guests expected.
Before and after the guests: two visits instead of one exhausting day
A family gathering in Al Uraija usually means two majlis rooms, a living room and a kitchen running for hours. Rather than the family doing all the cleaning before and after, the work can be split into two shorter visits: one before the gathering to prepare the majlis rooms, serving sets and washrooms, and one the next morning to collect and wash the dishes, vacuum the rugs and put the seating back in order. This often costs less than one long visit and means the house is ready at both moments you need it.
An hourly maid is not a professional catering or hospitality service and does not cook for the event, but she can set tables and prepare serving dishes, serve coffee and dates in the women’s section if you wish, and clean up afterwards.
After Eid and before school: getting the house back to normal
When Eid is over, the majlis rooms are upside down, serving sets are piled up in the kitchen and the guest rooms need cleaning before they are closed up again. A 5-hour visit a day or two after Eid is usually enough to wash, dry and put away the serving ware, vacuum the rugs, change the guest bedding and put the seating back as it normally is. If there were lots of gatherings over the holiday, book two maids for the clear-up.
Before the new school term there is a different kind of job: sorting children’s rooms and wardrobes, setting aside clothes that no longer fit, cleaning small desks and shelves and getting a study corner ready. It is not the same as a seasonal clean, but it is one of the things families in the district ask for most at the end of the summer holiday, and 4 to 5 hours usually covers it.
Hours by home and occasion
Shifts and arrival times in busy seasons
On normal days morning visits usually start between 8 and 10 am and evening visits between 4 and 6 pm. During Ramadan the timings change to fit around fasting and iftar, and are agreed at booking. In every case the clock starts when the maid arrives at your home, and we handle her transport both ways.
What an hourly maid does not do
- ✕cooking banquets or full meals
- ✕acting as sole carer for children or older family members
- ✕washing façades and high surfaces, or garden work
- ✕moving heavy furniture or large wardrobes

Legally employed maids and available nationalities
In busy seasons there are plenty of offers of workers without proper sponsorship at tempting prices. Remember that using a worker who has broken residency rules or absconded can expose the householder to a fine of up to SAR 100,000 and up to 6 months in prison, and under the Domestic Workers Regulation a domestic worker may only work for their own employer. Al-Kauther maids are legally employed with valid iqamas, trained, and wear a modest uniform.
We provide maids of African and Asian nationalities depending on availability at booking, such as Kenyan and Ugandan, and you can request a preferred nationality, confirmed when you book.
