Water tanks for sale in Kuwait: we supply new multi-layer polyethylene, fiberglass and stainless steel tanks from 1,000 litres up to 2,000 gallons and beyond, deliver them to your home, lift them onto the roof and install them with the float valve and pipework, and we replace your old tank if you need. A 1,000-litre tank starts from KWD 23.5, a 500-gallon three-layer tank from KWD 74 and a 1,000-gallon tank from KWD 106. To reach us, call or WhatsApp 65550977 and send a photo of where the tank will sit and the size you have in mind.
A water tank is something you live with for many years, so “how much is it?” is not the only question worth asking. The tank that suits a two-storey villa in Jahra is not necessarily right for a flat on an apartment-block roof in Hawalli, and a cheap tank that fades and cracks under the summer sun can end up costing more than one that was a little dearer. This guide walks you through the decision the same way we do on the phone: do you really need a new tank, then the material, the number of layers, the capacity, the shape and position, and finally price and installation.

What does the Al-Kauther tank sales service in Kuwait include?
Our tank sales service in Kuwait does not end with dropping a tank at your gate. It starts with questions about how many people live in the house and where the tank will go, and it ends with a tank sitting on its base, full of water and tested in front of you. We treat the tank as part of the home water system, not as a plastic container sold on its own.
- New tanks: we show you the sizes and layer options available from the brands sold in Kuwait and send photos and dimensions on WhatsApp before delivery.
- Replacement: we drain and disconnect the old tank, bring it down from the roof and install the new one on the same base or on a freshly prepared one.
- Used tanks: if you have found a second-hand tank, we inspect it with you before you pay and install it if it is sound.
- Installation: inlet and outlet pipes, float valve, stop valve and overflow, then filling and leak testing.
- After installation: a first wash, and, if you want, a tank cooler, an inline filter or insulation around the tank.
When does your home need a new tank rather than a repair?
Your home needs a new tank when repairing the old one would only be temporary or unsafe for the water: the wall has become brittle and crumbles when pressed, there are several cracks in different places, or light shows through the wall so algae keeps growing however often you clean it. At that point repeated welding and sealing costs close to the price of a new tank.
A single hole, a small crack around a pipe opening, or a worn-out float valve or stop valve are faults that can usually be fixed without buying a tank. So before deciding to buy, have a look at water tank repair in Kuwait, and if the problem is a crack in the body of a plastic or fiberglass tank, see tank welding in Kuwait — it may save you the cost of a whole tank.
Signs that replacing beats repairing:
- The outer colour is badly faded and flaking, and the wall flexes or crackles when pressed.
- Tap water tastes or smells of plastic, or carries small black flakes from the middle layer.
- Leaks keep appearing in new places after every weld.
- The tank is too small after the family has grown or a floor has been added.
- It is an old galvanised steel tank that has rusted inside.
Water tank materials sold in Kuwait
Most water tanks for sale in Kuwait are made from four materials: multi-layer polyethylene, the most common choice for homes; fiberglass; GRP sectional panels for buildings and large capacities; and stainless steel where very high hygiene is needed. Each one suits some places better than others.
Polyethylene tanks
A polyethylene tank is moulded in one piece by rotational moulding, so there are no seams or joints for water to leak from, and its smooth inner surface does not hold silt easily. It is fairly light, so it can be hauled up to a roof by rope, it never rusts, and it is the most affordable option. Its one weakness is the sun: a single-layer tank fades and turns brittle over time, which is why its life in Kuwait depends on how many layers it has and the quality of its UV-resistant outer skin.
Fiberglass tanks
A fiberglass tank is made of glass fibres and resin, with a smooth food-safe coating on the inside. It is harder than plastic and less affected by heat, humidity and salt, which is why some people prefer it for roofs exposed to the sun all day. Standard sizes are available and custom sizes can be made. The downsides are weight and price, and a crack has to be repaired with resin and fibre rather than heat welding.
GRP sectional panel tanks
Sectional tanks are built from square panels bolted together on site, so they suit apartment buildings, mosques, schools and places where a one-piece tank cannot get through the door or stairwell. They range from a few hundred gallons to many thousands, and can be enlarged later by adding panels. They need a perfectly level base and a technician who knows how to seal the gaskets between panels.
Stainless steel and concrete tanks
Stainless steel does not react with water or hold odours, and is used in commercial kitchens, food plants and some villas. It is the most expensive material and heats up in the sun unless insulated. A concrete tank is usually the underground tank built with the house; it is not bought ready-made but lined on the inside and cleaned regularly.
This table sums up the practical differences between materials:
| Material | Weight | Copes with Kuwait sun | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Polyethylene, 3 layers | Light | Good | Houses and flats, mid sizes | Shorter life if in full sun all day |
| Polyethylene, 4–5 layers | Light to medium | Better, cooler water | Exposed roofs and villas | Check there is a real insulating layer |
| Fiberglass | Medium to heavy | Very good | Exposed roofs, large or custom sizes | Needs a strong base and careful lifting |
| GRP panels | Assembled on site | Very good | Buildings, mosques, schools | Gasket sealing between panels |
| Stainless steel | Medium | Heats up unless insulated | Commercial kitchens, food use | Highest price |
What is the difference between 3-, 4- and 5-layer tanks?
The difference between 3-, 4- and 5-layer tanks in Kuwait is how much protection they give against sun and heat: each extra layer thickens the wall and cuts the light and heat reaching the water. In a three-layer tank the outer layer is coloured and UV-resistant, the middle layer is black to block light so algae cannot grow, and the inner layer is white and safe for drinking water.
In most brands the fourth layer is a foam insulating layer or an extra structural layer, while the fifth and sixth add more thermal insulation. In practice, if your tank sits on a roof in full sun from morning to late afternoon, you will feel the difference between 3 and 5 layers in the shower at midday and in the number of years before the tank fades. If the tank is in permanent shade or inside a room, a three-layer tank is usually enough and saves money.

Tip before buying: Open the lid and look at the edge of the opening; the layers show as coloured bands in the wall section. A seller who says “5 layers” when only three colours are visible should explain where the other two are.
Water tank brands in Kuwait: National, Neama, Al-Hajri and others
The water tank brands people in Kuwait most often search for by name are National (Al-Wataniya), Neama and Al-Hajri, alongside Kuwait International, Arabia International, Shiraa Al-Khaleej, Atyaf, Al-Arabi, Bait Al-Khaleej and United, plus Gulf brands such as Zamil and KAI. We do not tie you to one brand; we tell you what is in stock in the size you want and send you photos and the product label.
Brands usually differ in wall thickness, number of layers, lid type and fit, whether the vent has an insect mesh, and whether they make large sizes or special shapes such as low-profile or wall tanks. Some factories make fiberglass and build custom sizes; others make polyethylene only. So the better question is not “which brand is best?” but “which tank from this brand suits my roof and my capacity?”
| What to compare between brands | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Wall thickness and empty weight | A heavier tank of the same size usually has a thicker wall |
| Number of layers and inner layer type | The white food-grade inner layer is the most important part |
| Lid and how it closes | A tight lid keeps out dust, insects and birds |
| Vent and mesh | Stops mosquitoes and lets air out while filling |
| Spare parts and size range | Makes it easy to replace with the same size later |
Tank capacities in gallons and litres, and how to size yours
The most popular home tank sizes in Kuwait are 500, 750 and 1,000 gallons, followed by 1,200, 1,500 and 2,000 gallons for large villas and multi-storey houses, and 1,000 litres for annexes and small flats. Be aware that “gallon” can mean two different figures: some factories quote imperial gallons (about 4.55 litres), while some shops quote US gallons (about 3.79 litres). Always ask which gallon the seller means, or ask for the capacity in litres.
Here is an approximate conversion table for common sizes:
| Capacity in gallons | Litres (imperial gallon) | Litres (US gallon) | Approx. water weight when full |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 gallons | about 2,270 L | about 1,890 L | about 2.3 tonnes |
| 750 gallons | about 3,410 L | about 2,840 L | about 3.4 tonnes |
| 1,000 gallons | about 4,550 L | about 3,790 L | about 4.5 tonnes |
| 1,200 gallons | about 5,460 L | about 4,540 L | about 5.5 tonnes |
| 1,500 gallons | about 6,820 L | about 5,680 L | about 6.8 tonnes |
| 2,000 gallons | about 9,090 L | about 7,570 L | about 9.1 tonnes |
How to work out the right capacity
Kuwait has one of the highest per-person water consumption rates in the world, driven by heat, gardens, car washing and frequent showers in summer. So size your tank for at least two full days, not one, so you are not left dry if refilling is delayed or mains pressure drops. As a rule of thumb, a family of 4–6 in an ordinary house is usually fine with a 500–750-gallon roof tank plus an underground tank, while a villa with seven or more people, a garden or more than one floor needs 1,000 gallons or more, or two linked tanks.
There is a third factor many people overlook: roof load. A full 1,000-gallon tank weighs about four and a half tonnes, all concentrated on a small patch of roof. So we ask about the age of the house and where the columns are, and we place a large tank over a load-bearing wall or column, or on a base that spreads the weight — never in the middle of a roof slab.

1,000-litre water tank
A 1,000-litre water tank is the usual choice in Kuwait for annexes, flats, rest houses and small stores, and ours start from KWD 23.5. It is typically around a metre across and between one metre and 1.4 metres tall depending on the brand, so it passes through most roof doors without a crane. Bear in mind that 1,000 litres is only about 220 imperial gallons — less than half a 500-gallon tank — so do not compare its price directly with gallon-sized tanks.

What pushes a tank price up or down?
- Capacity: bigger tanks cost more, but the price per gallon falls as size grows.
- Layers: moving from 3 to 5 layers raises the price noticeably, and gives cooler water and a longer tank life.
- Material: polyethylene is cheapest, then fiberglass, then stainless steel.
- Shape: low-profile, wall and horizontal tanks can cost more than a vertical tank of the same size.
- Lifting and installation: a high roof, narrow stairs or the need for a crane affect installation cost, not the tank price.
- Fittings: a new float valve, stop valves, extra pipe and a tank base are charged as needed.
Clear price before delivery: We send you the tank price and the installation price separately on WhatsApp before we load the tank, so there are no surprises at the door.
Subsidised ration tanks for Kuwaiti citizens
Kuwaiti citizens can buy subsidised water tanks through the ration (tamween) system at prices roughly a fifth to a quarter below market, sold under ration rules through outlets set by the Ministry of Commerce. They are a good option if you are eligible, but they come in set sizes and brands and you may have to wait for the size you need.
If you have bought a subsidised ration tank and need someone to transport, lift and install it, we offer installation on its own at the same rate we charge for the tanks we sell, and remove the old one if needed.
Replacing an old tank with a new one: what happens on the day?
Replacing an old tank with a new one in Kuwait usually takes three to five hours, and most of that time goes on draining and removing the old tank and preparing the base, not on fitting the new one. Doing things in the right order keeps your home without water for as short a time as possible:
- We agree a time and ask you to store the drinking and cooking water you will need for those hours.
- We close the inlet valve and drain the old tank through its drain or with a small pump into the roof drain, not across the roof.
- We disconnect the inlet, outlet and overflow pipes and keep anything reusable.
- We lower the old tank by rope or carry it down the stairs and take it away.
- We check the base: it must be perfectly level, larger than the new tank footprint and free of gravel and sharp edges.
- We lift the new tank into place and cut the pipe openings to the right size if they are not pre-made.
- We fit the float valve, stop valve, inlet, outlet and overflow connections and secure the lid.
- We fill the tank and watch every joint until it is full, then check water reaches the taps and bleed air from the lines.
- We give the tank a first wash before it goes into use and show you where the valves are.

If the old tank is in good condition but too small, it can sometimes be kept and linked to the new one so they work together, provided both sit at the same level and the connecting pipe is wide enough.
Used water tanks for sale in Kuwait: when are they worth it?
A used water tank in Kuwait is worth buying if it is fairly new, its outer colour has not faded, its wall is firm, and it has only ever held drinking water. A tank that has held chemicals, fuel or pesticides is never suitable for drinking water however well it is washed, because the plastic absorbs some of what was stored in it.
Used tanks are mostly listed on classifieds sites or sold by people demolishing a house or upgrading their tanks. They are much cheaper than new, but the risk is not knowing how much life they have left. That is why we inspect a used tank before you pay for it, then transport, install and wash it if it passes.
What we check on a used tank:
- Inner layer: it should be smooth and white, with no deep scratches or black spots.
- Outer wall: no fine cracks and no soft spots when pressed by hand.
- Bottom: no dents or impact marks, since the base carries the most weight.
- Openings: pipe holes intact with no cracks around them.
- Smell: any odour other than ordinary plastic is reason enough to reject the tank.
- Lid: present and tight-fitting; a tank without a lid needs one of the same size.
Tank shapes and positions: vertical, horizontal, low-profile and wall tanks
In Kuwait the shape of a tank is chosen by the space available more than by capacity: vertical tanks are most common on roofs because they take up less floor area, horizontal tanks suit low-ceilinged spots or steel stands, low-profile tanks suit roofs with a short parapet or height limits, and wall tanks sit along a boundary wall or in a narrow side passage.
| Shape | Best position | Advantage | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vertical | Standard roof | Small footprint, widest price range | Needs a level base and stability against wind |
| Horizontal | Steel stand, under a shade, low space | Low height, better weight spread | Needs a longer area |
| Low-profile | Roofs with low parapets or height limits | Not visible from the street | Slightly dearer for the same size |
| Wall (boundary) tank | Side passage or narrow yard | Uses otherwise wasted space | Must be fixed to the wall |
| Ready-made underground | Below ground or in a yard | Large reserve storage | Needs a pump to lift water |

Delivery and roof installation
We deliver new tanks to any area in Kuwait and lift them onto the roof by rope or via the stairs, using a crane only when the tank is large or the roof very high, and we tell you in advance. An empty polyethylene tank is light but bulky and catches the wind, so we do not lift on days of heavy dust.
Once the tank is in place we check three things before leaving: that the float valve shuts off before the water reaches the overflow, that the overflow pipe points into the roof drain and not down the house wall, and that the lid is tight and the vent is covered with mesh. If the tank feeds a pump, we make sure the suction pipe does not draw air when the level drops.

Warning: Do not put a new tank on the old base without checking it; a cracked or sloping base puts the load on part of the tank bottom and cracks it within months.
Questions to ask any tank seller before you pay
Before paying for any tank in Kuwait, ask the seller these questions; the answers will tell you whether they know what they are selling:
- Is the capacity in imperial or US gallons? How many litres exactly?
- How many layers does the tank have, and what does each one do?
- Is the inner layer safe for drinking water?
- Does the price include delivery, roof lifting and installation, or just the tank?
- Who removes and takes away the old tank?
- What happens if a joint leaks after installation?
We answer these before you ask and put them in a WhatsApp message with the price. If a joint we fitted leaks within the agreed period, we come back and reseal it at no charge.
After the new tank is in: washing, cooling, filtering and insulation
A new tank needs a first wash before you drink from it, because manufacturing, transport and storage leave dust and residue inside. After that it still needs regular cleaning; see our guide to water tank cleaning and washing in Kuwait for how often.
If the water still comes out hot in summer even with a multi-layer tank, the answer is water tank cooler installation in Kuwait. To protect the new tank from sediment arriving from the mains, a central filter can be fitted on the inlet line, as explained in central water filter installation in Kuwait. And if your roof is not waterproofed and leaks into the ceiling under the tank, look at Jetaroof roof insulation in Kuwait before installation, not after.
